Eschenbach C-300, Continuous Text Low Contrast Chart
Do you want to determine which illumination option might be best for a patient or demonstrate the benefits of contrast-enhancing filters? Do you have patients who complain their magnifier no longer works, but show no decline in their acuity? If so, Eschenbach's new Continuous Text Low Contrast Chart can help! This quick, easy to use chart is printed at 20/400 acuity so it can be read by most visually impaired patients and includes 5 pages printed with either 25%, 10%, 5%, 2.5% or 1.25% contrast sensitivity function scores. To use the chart, have your patient begin reading the first page (25%) and then have them read as many additional pages as possible. When they begin to have difficulty, look at the lower right hand corner of the page and note the contrast sensitivity score. You can use this score to help determine the best illumination option for patients (e.g., those with a high % contrast score tend to prefer halogen or LED illumination and those with a low % contrast score tend to prefer incandescent or no illumination). In addition, by comparing scores over time, you can adjust the illumination option for a patient (a patient who scored 2.5% six months ago and who now scores 10% might not need a stronger magnifier, just a different illumination option). You can also use the Continuous Text Low Contrast Chart to demonstrate the benefits of contrast-enhancing filters such as SolarShields. Just put the different tints on the patient and let them read the chart and they'll tell you which tint helps them the most! Features Holding Distance: 16 in.
